It's a very funny Noel Coward play, which happened to be starring a lady you \u003Ci\u003Emay\u003C\/i\u003E have heard of before and who I \u003Ci\u003Emay\u003C\/i\u003E have mentioned every so often in adoring tweets and whatnot, i.e. ANGELA AMAZO LANSBURY. \u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003ELuckily, my supercool friend Brenda lives in London and is a fellow Jessica Fletcher fan, so it stood to reason that we'd go to see her onstage together. Ridiculous premium seats were bought, because fuck it, IT'S JESSICA FLETCHER AND I WANT TO SEE HER EYEBALLS.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cimg alt=\"\" border=\"0\" src=\"http:\/\/3.bp.blogspot.com\/-Tmv0SCyTK1c\/U48G7b_ElLI\/AAAAAAAAEJ4\/w6s36bLxhz8\/s1600\/sign.jpg\" id=\"BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5641564410206788610\" style=\"display: block; height: 400px; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; width: 400px;\" \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EThe day finally came, wonky excitable selfies were taken outside the theatre, a dinner of Fruit Pastilles, peanuts and delirious joy was had in Row H, because we weren't organised enough to have dinner before the show at 7.30. Incredulous whispers of \"It's actually happening\" and \"We're in the same building as her RIGHT NOW\" were shared.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EThe curtain rose. The show began. Myself and Brenda almost gave her a standing ovation then and there, before she'd even said a word. \u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EThe show was absolutely brilliant, which was a pleasant bonus seeing as I would have been happy even if it was just her knitting a scarf for two and half hours. There were to be no autographs, warned the security man, (which was fair enough, seeing as she's an 88 year old lady after all and she'd be there all evening if that was the case) when she came out she was going wave to everyone and make her way to her car and that would be that. \u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EShe finally emerged from the door and the crowd went nuts. I took around twenty shockingly bad blurry photos, partly because I was so excited and also because I suddenly realised I was looking at her through my phone when she was RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME IN REAL LIFE, so I wasn't even looking at the screen for a lot of it. But I got one! A few months later it went viral after being posted on Reddit, as is the way with things these days, which led to a lesson in watermarking, after seeing my uncredited work reblogged all over Tumblr and pinned all over Pinterest and popping up on Imgur, most of the time with \u003Ca href=\"http:\/\/thelandofmaps.tumblr.com\/post\/51250080721\/zombie-survival-map-for-dungarvan-co-waterford\" target=\"_blank\"\u003Ecredit\u003C\/a\u003E \u003Ca href=\"http:\/\/imgur.com\/r\/mapporn\/oKTrMQD\" target=\"_blank\"\u003Eto\u003C\/a\u003E \u003Ca href=\"http:\/\/themaefive.tumblr.com\/post\/52965952765\/mapsontheweb-zombie-survival-map-for-dungarvan\" target=\"_blank\"\u003Emindhaxx\u003C\/a\u003E, whoever the fuck that is.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EAnyway. There's been a third Brief Exchange show and the results have been scattered around Cork city in outdoor advertising spaces since the start of the month, to coincide with Design Week.The posters are all on the Brief Exchange \u003Ca href=\"http:\/\/www.briefexchange.net\/\" target=\"_blank\"\u003Ewebsite\u003C\/a\u003E too and well worth a look, as there's some really bloody great design work going on over there.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003ESo the brief I received for this incarnation of Brief Exchange was:\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Ci\u003E\"Design a poster for something that you’d like to see on your daily route.\"\u003C\/i\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EWhich I must admit, left me stumped for quite some time. The whatnow?\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EHOLY SHIT OUR ROOM HAS A NAME AND NOT A NUMBER, thought I.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EIt turns out I wasn't getting excited for nothing, as the room was MASSIVE, had a super high ceiling, four huge windows, an enormous bathroom and most importantly - A MOTHERFUCKING FOUR POSTER BED. You see, it has long been an ambition of mine to sleep in a four poster bed, so my parents, the big legends, only went and saw to it. Achievable goals, people. The theme for the murder mystery was a medical one, as it was set in a Chicago hospital. We were informed that a hotshot surgeon had been murdered, handed a list of suspects and split into named teams. I was raging that we weren't on Team Fletcher. RAGING. Instead, the Bear and I found ourselves on Team Ace Ventura, which was ok really, seeing as he's probably my second favourite detective. The only time we left the hotel was to procure a bottle of Jameson and two dusty bottles of ginger ale from the nearby shop. Best. Day. Ever.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EOn Saturday night, there was a press conference where we were introduced to the suspects, and got to question them between courses at dinner. It was a fancy dress dinner, so in the week beforehand, we decided to use costumes we already had in the house, namely a dog suit for the Bear and \u003Ca href=\"http:\/\/redlemonade.blogspot.ie\/2010\/12\/and-you-will-know-her-by-trail-of.html\" target=\"_blank\"\u003Ea sheep costume\u003C\/a\u003E for me. Not just any sheep though, Chris the Sheep from Father Ted, as in KING OF THE SHEEP.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EHowever, as the rest of the sixty-odd participants filed into the room, it turned out that they either didn't bother dressing up, or adhered to the hospital theme and arrived in scrubs or sexy nurse outfits. While the Bear and I sat at the table dressed as a dog and King of the Sheep.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EANYWAY.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EBy the end of dinner, the suspects had been narrowed down to two possibilities, so we had to fill out solution sheets with who we thought the murderer was and what their motive might have been. After a bit of disagreement with the rest of the team, in particular one woman who wouldn't let go of her theory that the male murder victim and one of the female suspects were the same person and then insisted that it was actually a particular character's mother who WASN'T EVEN A SUSPECT, LADY we settled on an answer. (The same woman said she didn't like Jessica Fletcher earlier on in the day, which elicited gasps of horror from both me and the Bear. So the winners were determined by two quiz rounds from Friday night where we had to identify celebrities from photos where we could only see their eyes, and name the TV shows and films that ten theme tunes came from. Team Ace Ventura kicked ass at both rounds and we were declared the winners, snagging a bottle of wine each for our efforts. Hooray! On this particular venture, we were on a mission to find Ross O'Carroll-Kelly books for my brother, although seeing as this meant intently perusing the bookshelves of all the charity shops on Capel Street, we ended up with enough books for ourselves to almost break the plastic bag that held them. However, as we made our way through all the second hand James Pattersons, Alexander McCall Smiths, Patricia Cornwells and Cecelia Aherns (SO MANY Cecelia Aherns) in the first shop, a certain book in perfect condition grabbed my attention.  \u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003ETHIS book, to be precise: \u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Ca href=\"http:\/\/1.bp.blogspot.com\/-gipPIZVcfCk\/TrqfvOBbTMI\/AAAAAAAAB0c\/c62JLcOptdY\/s1600\/madame-1.jpg\"\u003E\u003Cimg alt=\"\" border=\"0\" id=\"BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5641564410206788610\" src=\"http:\/\/1.bp.blogspot.com\/-gipPIZVcfCk\/TrqfvOBbTMI\/AAAAAAAAB0c\/c62JLcOptdY\/s1600\/madame-1.jpg\" style=\"display: block; height: 396px; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; width: 400px;\" \/\u003E\u003C\/a\u003E \u003Cbr \/\u003ESo many questions. Such as the back to front Es and WHY? They bewilder me entirely. They make me want to shake the book until they rattle back into their rightful position. What's the deal with Miss Floating Cloaked Girl here, out of proportion with everything around her? And why is there a tiny glowing map of Ireland hovering above the larger of the confused Es? I'm sorry.  \u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EAnyway. \u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EHaving replaced the book on the shelf after shaking my head in puzzlement at it for several minutes, I noticed another copy. Like the first, it was in no way second hand. The spine was flat and smooth, the pages unthumbed and the cover all shiny. I thought it was a bit unusual, but off we ambled to the next shop. And the next. And the next. There are at least five charity shops on Capel Street and this book was in EVERY. SINGLE. ONE. Multiple copies of it in fact. Scattered throughout the shelves, all of them in mint condition. It was only in the second shop that I decided to take a picture of each sighting in each shop. Nevertheless, \"A Game of Strategy and Pursuit\" that centres around one of the four to six players secretly playing the MURDERER and the other three to five playing JESSICA individually attempting to work out who indeed the MURDERER is sounds like eleven kinds of fantastic fun. I'm not quite sure how it works with a room full of Jessicas but it all sounds pant-wettingly exciting. Well, I actually didn't you see. My lovely friend \u003Ca href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/#%21\/tcupdesign\"\u003ETCup\u003C\/a\u003E actually started it way back when, as she had been saying we should start a blog because we crack each other up. So Red Lemonade began life as a double act of sorts, with both myself and TCup talking shite. The name came from our initials, as in TK Red Lemonade.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cspan style=\"font-weight: bold;\"\u003EWhat kind of blogs do you follow?\u003C\/span\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EI actually follow a \u003Cspan style=\"font-style: italic;\"\u003Ehape\u003C\/span\u003E of blogs. (May or may not be the correct collective noun...) Well written personal blogs I suppose. The likes of \u003Ca href=\"http:\/\/spanishexposition.blogspot.com\/\"\u003EThe Spanish Exposition\u003C\/a\u003E, \u003Ca href=\"http:\/\/chancingmyarm.blogspot.com\/\"\u003EChancing My Arm\u003C\/a\u003E, \u003Ca href=\"http:\/\/annierhiannon.blogspot.com\/\"\u003EThe Little Pinch of Salt\u003C\/a\u003E, \u003Ca href=\"http:\/\/www.radgery.com\/\"\u003ERadgery\u003C\/a\u003E, \u003Ca href=\"http:\/\/eddiehobbsdiet.blogspot.com\/\"\u003EJennifer Alice In Wonderland\u003C\/a\u003E are all entertaining reads. \u003Ca href=\"http:\/\/demurelemur.wordpress.com\/\"\u003EThe Demure Lemur\u003C\/a\u003E is also a brilliant writer but reading her blog in work at times borders on hazardous, as it can get rather sexy and as such distract you from work entirely for far more interesting thoughts. It's funny, smart and deliciously dirty. \u003Ca href=\"http:\/\/theantiroom.wordpress.com\/\"\u003EThe Anti Room\u003C\/a\u003E is a great read too. Oh and sharp, funny fashion blogs like \u003Ca href=\"http:\/\/www.whatwilliweartoday.ie\/\"\u003EWhat Will Wear Today?\u003C\/a\u003E and \u003Ca href=\"http:\/\/www.thestylebitches.com\/website\/\"\u003EThe Stylebitches\u003C\/a\u003E would be on the list too.
